I thinking of buying a TX1 and I have a couple of questions. First Can I manually program the scanner by hand and by ez scan? Second does have problems with simulcast sites like the HP2? Thank you very much.

I've had one for a couple years... I can confirm N1GAW's response... yes and YES. P25 Phase I is OK where I live (although my PRO-106 seems better), but Phase II is a disaster (I'm just about smack-dab in the middle of three simulcast towers), which is why I'm working on setting up a two-dongle SDR setup with DSD+ Fastlane.

The TRX does work very well, however, on conventional P25, DMR and NXDN.

As an owner of two TRX-1's , I agree with the above, but would add: Location, location, location. If you're lucky, your monitoring site (e.g., living room, den) could be in a "hot spot" of good reception. Wander out of that small square footage, though, and it's a crap shoot.
Reliable mobile monitoring of simulcast systems is, of course, virtually impossible. In and around town I have literally pulled over into selected parking lots where I have learned only from experience are hot spots to monitor interesting radio traffic. The city mainly consists of dead zones.
Important note: There is no good antenna fix for the simulcast distortion problem.
