Good morning everyone I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I recently purchased a ws-1040 and I can program conventional stations all day long. However I’m trying to program to scan p25 as almost every agency in my area are all digital now. I purchased the ARC-500 pro software and I entered the keys so the software is not in trial mode. When I search trucking systems in my area everything comes up however when I download all the sites and everything to the scanner it shows ids of everything but not receiving anything as if no frequency’s are entered as they are when I checked. I’m currently trying to program to the tx-warn system specifically Brazoria County. I’ve been toying with it for hours and can’t figure it out.
Any help or insight will greatly be appreciated thank you and have a great day.

Look in the Mode column of the TxWARN system. A lot of the the talkgroups in Brazoria County are P25 Phase 2 (TDMA) which cannot be received by your scanner. The WS1040 is capable of P25 Phase 1 only. Any talkgroup with a T (TDMA) is P25 Phase 2. Modes DE and TE are fully encrypted and cannot be received by any scanner. A lower case "e" means partial encryption. Anything with a Mode of D is Phase 1 and can be received by your scanner. I use ARC500 also. If you attach your programming file, I will check it for problems. You will have to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder. Here is the link to the TxWARN system: Texas Wide Area Radio Network (TxWARN) Trunking System, Various, Texas - Scanner Frequencies (radioreference.com) Which agencies are you interested in monitoring? Incidentally, it is a trunking system, not trucking.

Are you downloading the separate frequencies or the control channels? In most cases, the control channels are all that are necessary. I have the Radio Shack version of that radio and the Butel software. This is an older design and not great on simulcast, but a good scanner. If you want to send me your code plug, I can take a look at it.

I sent the scanner back and exchanged it for a Uniden BCD436HP only down fall about the 436HP is it programs it self through zip code gps. However on the Tx Warn systems it has Alvin PD on the Alvin West tower but after finding out they are not on the Alvin West Site only the School is. Alvin PD is on the Friendswood Site also Alvin can be heard on Brazoria County simulcast and some on Galveston county simulcast. However with the Uniden software it won’t allow me to change the frequencies that are in the system it won’t let me enter anything manually.

That's not correct.

If all you are doing is using the main database, and your location by zip code, then no, you cannot edit the main database.

However, if you create & use a Favorites list, then you can edit that however you want using the Sentinel software that you use to update the data. Or, for more features, take a look at ProScan or ARC536. My preference is ProScan, since it has quite a few more functions for editing & monitoring systems. But Sentinel is capable of creating and editing Favorites lists, whether by manual programming, or appending systems from the main database. You can also create and edit systems directly on the scanner, through the keypad, but you have to be doing that within a Favorites list. You cannot directly edit the main database via the keypad.

If you need or want assistance programming your 436HP, start a thread either in the Uniden Tech Support forum, or for more members in your area, familiar with the systems in your area, post down in the Texas Forum, and/or in the HoustonScan group on Groups.io.
