I'm camping in another county in state that i don't have programmed into my Hand held unit.
Is there a method to just randomly scan and listen in this new area without programming unit?

The only way will be to find channels and program them into the scanner.

If you would like to find the strongest signals in your area you can press PGM then FUNC then SCAN. Pressing different numbers will turn on/off the various bands.

Or, you can press SRCH numerous times to search through various bands or do a limit search to find channels to program into the scanner.
