Any word on the WS-1095 having the upgraded vocoder and if it will use the actual I/Q baseband to demodulate digital vs the old school method of using the audio discriminator tap method like Uniden does ?

You could drop an email to Whistler and post the reply here..... they seem to have answered emails from other posters.

Nice. I seen the 1080 has a built in discriminator tap you think the 1095 will too? How is other trunking support on these such as edacs and esk support etc? Older granted and being phased out but therr are still stragglers in my area using it with no upgrading to p25 anytime soon. Being phase 1 and 2 capable and the discriminator tap it's winning my heart and would slam dunk my decision if it had support for edacs.

Sweet. Yeah obviously the pro voice is a no lol. But regular edacs right on. I'll be keeping eye for the desktop version when it releases. Till then the 1080 looks like a xmas stocking stuffer.

I've been away from this site for about nine months (woodworking is turning out to be much more enjoyable than reading threads of old guys arguing about radios), but when I came back, I came right to this thread and this is exciting news...if it actually comes true and the 1095 becomes available. I held off buying the Uniden because I had some faith that this radio might actually see the light of day under the Whistler name. :)

I hope the 1095 has a discriminator tap (IF out). I bought the 1080 to compare with my 436HP about 2 months ago. Initially, my comments were negative about the 1080 compared to the 436HP (never owned the PSR800). However, 2 months has made a difference. I now know how to use the 1080 pretty well, and it is great radio. I miss the keyboard, but the digital audio is great, the library feature is great (on the go), and I am using the discriminator feature (IF out) all the time.
Have several NXDN railroad channels here in Los Angeles. Just put them all in a scan list, run IF to line-in, run DSDPlus, and the NXDN decoding is excellent. Have also tested the P25 decoding on conventional and trunk systems using the IF out with DSDPlus, and results are excellent. Am going to start hunting for a few DMR/TRBO stations here in LA and give that a try.
If the 1095 has the IF out (discriminator) feature like the PSR800/WS1080, count me in for one when they are available.

Forget about next week at SEMA. They should slam the hammer down now and release information on RR to get us pumped up. It was the Uniden Slaughter house yesterday

here in Los Angeles.

I just read a posting on the new Whistler MS1095. I would think that the “simplified” controls would be a safety plus while driving. I zero interest in “programming on the fly” while driving. My main needs would be “Hold”, “Lockout” or “Skip” and “Resume Scan”. The detachable control head that has a power on/off button is a big plus.

It's about time we hear a little something about this radio, isn't it? Mainly an availability date. No loose lips over at Whistler. They announced last week the manual is now online. Being a PSR-800 owner I could have written the manual with the exception of the detachable front and maybe a couple menu tweaks that are different.
