I interested in getting the whistler1040 scanner. I realize of course that this is a digital scanner but does anyone know if this will also pickup analog as well?

The short answer is Yes, it will do analog too.

It doesn't say but I know the pro651 from radio shack does both digital and analog but doesn't state it in the manual

Same radio. In fact, the 651 was made by Whistler

Yes, it absolutely picks up analog.
