WHITEVILLE, S.C., -- A $70,000-plus patch of a component of the county’s emergency communications system is not finalized and problems persist with emergency communications across Columbus County. “We still have some audio issues that we are working out,” County Emergency Services Director Jeremy Jernigan said Tuesday. Both an old and replacement segment of the system housed at the 9-1-1 center plays a major role in sending and receiving communications from fire, rescue and police are “tied together.”
