who can use npspac channels and how can you use them?

ok new question on this one. i came across this the other day and was asked by a individiual at my department who can use these and how? can a department use these for like fg operations on a regular basis. anybody with knowledge on this let me know thanks.

You have to submit a request to the NPSPAC Region Committee and when they allocate frequencies then file the application via your APCO Indiana Frequency Advisor who will send it to FCC.

The Indiana APCO advisor is Alex Whitaker with the Indiana State Police, his phone number is 317-233-9026.

He can tell you who to contact with the region committee and you may want to ask him if you have to wait for a filing window andif so when it may be. Some regions only allow applications once a year.

Any PS entity that has been granted them may use them. Of course as rebanding occurs,... Who knows what new freqs will replace them since those are going bye bye per the "below 860 MHz" portion.

My county is using them as talkaround channels and for yacking about things not important enough to tie up a trunked channel.

Well, to put it in context, this is the same county who uses 155.475 MHz for routine dispatch traffic.

Which NPSPAC Channels.
You region plan probably has channels assigned to your jurusdiction.
There are probabaly channels assigned for interoperability and mutual-aid/coordination.

Get a copy of your regional plan and read it.
