I have ordered a 436HP which is in transit. Using a friends 436HP til then .. it is not perfect, but pretty close and has some great features.

I am not at all interested in the 536HP as I have commercial radios for home that will always perform better than a scanner. But don't worry .. I sometimes use those too when things get crazy.

Are you able to run your 436 an entire day in the field on a single battery charge?

Perhaps not, but I have the sense of mind to carry a spare set of batteries for when I might need the additional operating time. Doesn't seem like too big of a deal to me considering I can generally get eight hours on a set using decent batteries (Duracell 2300mAh), and it's easy enough to carry six (or nine) batteries instead of three, since AAs are pretty small.

I've got the HP-1 for home, and love it, but want to get the 436 after Christmas for use in the truck, mobile use. Only thing that im not liking, from what i've seen about the 436, that it has NO A/C power, all battery, or USB, i had a RS Pro-106, that had A/C power, and the choice of two different battery packs, i could slip in when read y to, either regular or rechargeable batteries. I dont understand why they would make a handheld unit like the 436, without the option of a/c power....But since i've already got the HP-1, The a/c rant, isn't that big of a deal since the 436 would be a mobile unit.
