Don’t forget Uniden America’s own scanner forum.

I have not. But to be blunt, this forum is far more active. That's why it was first. I had a bug fix (BC_VUP update for the BC125AT) that was a critical issue. Some users unintentionally downgraded their firmware which put the scanner in an unusable state. It was fixed within hours of notice. This was the best place to get the word out quickly since it was brought up on these forums. I explained elsewhere how this caused me to step on toes and skip over formal introductions that were planned.

Was it the right thing to do? Yes and no. It was right for those with unusable scanners. It was not right in the process of introduction. It seemed like the correct call at the time. For those with sore toes, I again apologize.

And of course once that cat was loose (pun intended?) there was no putting it back in the bag. I could not go back to lurking.

This is a totally different reply. Besides this one we've seen other scam sites "sell" Uniden products at ridiculously low prices, they are presumably offshore maybe, but let your legal department know.

Management has been made aware of those (and eBay listings for "SDS100"s that are not). Thank you for the report.

Hi,

This is "Joe Bearcat" (JB for short if you like).

Hello and welcome JB. It's great to see some representation from Uniden here on the forum. I'll admit I've been somewhat absent here myself since Paul's passing. My absence wasn't directly related, but it was sudden and I chose to focus on other work and hobbies for a while. I'm coming back to the forums here mainly to catch up and see what I've missed.

I've been a Uniden scanner user since the 70s myself, going back to the Bearcat III and IV family members had back then. My own first Uniden scanner was the BC100XLT and I've gone through several scanners since, many manufactured by Uniden. My most recent models are the HP2 and 436HP, both of which see significant use here.

Anyhow, just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself as well!

Dear Joe,

Does Uniden have any new scanner product planned in 2021 or 2022?
Does Uniden plan to add support of TETRA, or PDT, or MPT-1327?
Does Uniden plan to use USB-C port?
Does Uniden plan to add multi-language support?

Thank you.

If you would search all of JoeBearcat's post you would find all the news you are going to get.
Uniden has never released any news until the scanner is ready to hit the market.
The only thing Jos said is it is being looked at and that is about all you will hear in this very competitive market.

Who are their competitors?

Hi,

This is "Joe Bearcat" (JB for short if you like). First, I want to apologize for the absence of Uniden in the RadioReference.com forums. UPMan's passing hit us all hard and by surprise, and shortly after that hit the global pandemic threw everyone into various stages of isolation, so this delayed the replacement process. That difficulty remains through this day. But Uniden has never abandoned the valued customer base that exists and we have been working behind the scenes to come up with a solution to fill the void left by UPMan's sudden passing.
Hi "Joe"! I'm not sure why I just saw this post now, but welcome! Glad to see someone from Uniden here again. I know you're not "replacing" Paul, and I'm sure you don't think you are, nor want to be perceived as doing so. Thanks for being here! P.S. I know my avatar shows a GRE product, but if you count up my scanners, including the Uniden-made Radio Shack models, I think the score is Uniden 6 to GRE 2, plus 1 AOR :)

Welcome, I sure wouldn't advise or expect you to fill any shoes, we all know Paul was a fine intelligent man and very helpful, he cannot be "replaced" and it would be fruitless to try.
Nice to have a line of comms to BC, I'm sure you will do all within your means to perform your function as a liaison of sorts, and just to generally get a feel whats going on in the BC owners community.

In order...

Yes.
Not at this time (not enough systems / user base yet)
I love USB-C for many reasons
Multi-language in the scanner menus?

I'd love to add myself to the list of those who support USB-C. Reversable connector, nearly all consumer devices are now using them or migrating, and 20x more durable than MicroUSB or MiniUSB. I have to send in my 436 soon to get the USB port fixed since it has stopped working.

Thank you for the response. I still wish TETRA can be added in the future.

Yes Multi language in menus. There is no problem for me to read English, but some may not be accustomed with that.

Regarding the multi-langue support, I would recommend to stick with English only. That makes referring to various problems between users much easier (for example on this forum). Comparing to Windows 10, I have always problems when searching Internet for some solution while having my system set to local language. Usually I end up switching to English anyway.
