Who is still on 460.05 Metro?

The recent discussion in the 'foxtrot' forum mentioned the old Metro intersystem frequency of 460.05. Besides Baltimore city/county and Anne Arundel, who is still using it? It might be nice to know, and I'm sure there've been some changes with the migrations to digital trunking.

There *used* to be a check in net once a week sometime - is it still going on? That would be a good way to see who's still got a radio capable on this freq.

Yes the test is still going on. I've heard it on many occasions. I can't recall all the jurisdictions included in the test but I do know that all the jurisdictions mentioned plus certain MSP Barracks are involved. The next time I hear it I'll make sure to note who answers up.

I've heard the MSP Waterloo barracks run the test several times. Usually happens about Noonish on Saturdays. The jurisictions I can rememeber are Baltimore City, Balitmore County, AnneArundel County, Howard County, MSP Glen Burnie and MSP Waterloo. I remember they called Carroll Co once too.. The one thing I can't be sure of is that they call everybody, everyweek...

Metro-Net Test is done 3 times a day once on each shift. the jurisdictions take turns doing the test each jurisdiction being assigned a different month
to do the test. This month is MSP Glen Burnie. The Agencies Still using the Metro-Net are Baltimore City, Baltimore County, AA County, Howard County, MSP Glen Burnie, MSP Golden Ring, MSP Waterloo, MSP Pikesville, Maryland Transportation Authority Bay Bridge Detachment, and
University of Maryland, Baltimore(located in Downtown Baltimore City)

Thanks to both Cindy and Nathan; I've just put the frequency in both of my scanners. Will give a listen. I heard everything that Cindy mentioned on the test yesterday afternoon (Sat.) at about 12:45, for those that are interested.

460.05 is a great freq to monitor....nice way to be alerted to significant crime events in the area....

A point of somewhat related curiosity for all on the board....I've been polling folks about the strength of the DC PMARS signal.....anyone had success in copying it (w/ yagi or otherwise) in Northern Balt Co or the viscinity? I'm contemplating upgrading to an 800 yagi....hate to invest the funds for this if all the RF activity in Balt City and elsewhere will likely kill my chances of copying PMARS anyway.

I've a feeling it would be quite a stretch to hear the 866 mhz PMARS freq from northern Baltimore county, even with a Yagi. I don't know exactly where the xmtrs for this system are, but I *think* the nearest one to you (me, too) would be Montgomery or perhaps PG county. Since Montgomery is 800 digital now, if you could hear their control channel clearly, then yes, it's possible. But with all that trash in the Towson/Timonium area, if you need to point your way through that mess, your chances would be greatly diminshed, for sure. 73s Mike

Thanks for the response. There has been some talk of DC PMARS testing or patches of some sort in the Baltimore and QA Co areas of late....perhaps there will be some Northward tower expansion of the system.

So, speaking of P-MARS...

Last night I was listening to 866.3625 and there was both police and fire activity on the freq. At first it was confusing until I realized that what I was hearing sounded exactly like any one of the freqs from a TRS net. I still don't know who was using it that way or why. It was all digital sounding and there was even some encrypted voice thrown into the mix. The bottom line is that it appeared that some public safety agency was simulcasting one of its frequencies onto the 866.3625 freq.
