Actually, they do programming, but more "after the fact" (send it to Uniden for programming after you receive the scanner).

I will note your link is NOT one to uniden.com. I have asked several times who "uniden support" is, but have never received an answer.
They may be affiliated with Uniden, but I don't know who they are yet.

They seem to list all the same corporate information on their website as Uniden Corporation on their page, including the same phone number. Why don't you give them a call and ask them Joe? It's either some kind of elaborate scam run by a third party, or it's the real thing. If you, as a Uniden Representative can't find out if this is the real deal or not, what are us mere mortals to do ???

No offense intended, but c'mon, it's something you been looking into for a while. Doesn't anyone at Uniden talk to each other???

Well, if the GM at Uniden America does not know, I don't know what else to do. Maybe it is a subcontractor whose contract ran out. or they just stopped doing anything. It does little use to call a CSR if the GM does not have the answer. I can ask the person in charge of the CSRs, I guess.

Do we even know if they are still doing anything? I note UnidenSupport has not posted here in over a year, but they did have an account and UPMan likely knew who they are.

What is the next step you would recommend if it seems nobody at Uniden seems to know who this is?

I will ask the management again including the URL.

BTW, no offense taken. I simply am at a loss as to how to proceed.

Update: Another inquiry sent to the GM and product team.

Doesn't seem likely that Uniden America would need a domain name of unidensupport.com when they have support.uniden.com

Agreed, and it seems that the unidensupport website is using an older version of the header and footer, but it says it is updated as of 2021.

The "corporate info" tab on the page links back to "Uniden America".

As far as username "UnidenSupport", that was someone from the call center (I believe in Wisconsin, which is noted in the User profile) that was answering some questions, and communicating concerns back up the line while UPMan had extended periods of unavailability (before his condition took a sharp downturn, and ultimately his untimely passing). This member was last on the webpage last Friday, but has not posted since the end of 2019, when he noted that UPMan was no longer with us.

There is a second member, UnidenTechSupport, joined RadioReference last October. Was only on the page the dat he or she created a member ID, and has not been back since; also never made a post.

Thanks. I will reach have reached out to the lead CSR. I suspect this is something UPMan set up - perhaps without management's knowledge (not saying there was anything wrong with that as long as he had that authority).

I would also note that the 'Ship to' address, for sending a scanner for programming, is the same as the repair facility in Roanoke.

The screenshot I included in post 24 is a search result that liberally uses the Uniden name, but the link is to Bearcat Warehouse.

I suspect that you are correct, that he asked for the "UnidenSupport" id to be created as a liazon between RadioReference members & Uniden, during a period when UPMan was undergoing treatment that led to his being absent for intermittent periods.

I just hope I am get getting into some 'side business' one of the employees is doing without management's knowledge.

Still, I have to side with them over someone doing something they may not authorize. Hopefully we can bring this all into the light and it is something that UPMan set up that will now be approved by management.

It's also possible that "Pay to Program" is no longer an active program, and nobody remembered to turn out the lights on the webpage. However, I do recall a package insert, for one or more new scanners several years ago, where there was a 'programming service' option noted.

I recall reading a post from UPMan where he vouched for the UnidenSupport user and basically said he was a legit Uniden person but at a facility in Wisconsin as @hiegtx noted.
That post was made not long after the new UnidenSupport account and user showed up here. People were suspicious of the user and asked Paul if it was legit Uniden account and person.

Upman himself posted a link to that unidensupport url in a post he made here back in 2014:

I really am not doubting the authenticity of the account. I just have not been able to find out who it is thus far. I did find out just a few minutes ago that Uniden DOES offer programming services. Here is the exact reply I received from the lead CSR:

"We do some programming for customer’s the fee for this is 95.00 and the customer must provide us with a list of Frequencies they want programmed.

Our call center does have access to post things from time to time however I’m not 100% sure it’s on RR. Let me check into this more and see."

Really, there are two questions here: First, who is Unidensupport on RR, and second who runs that website? (and most importantly is that something that is my responsibility?)

Robert Redford would be proud. A "company"operating within a company. Maybe they'll entitle it, "Three Days Of The Bearcat". I would be wary of any calls offering to "bring you in safely".

To answer your first question, if someone is showing up as "Unidensupport" on RR, and I was the official Uniden Representative, I would certainly be curious. As far as who runs the website, that might be more a job for your Internal Security departmant and/or your legal team. I have someone else doing some research for me.... we'll see if anything pans out.

In any event, I have you have a Faye Dunaway look-a-like on your team.

Poking around on the "fake" websiteI found this-

Ship your unit prepaid via UPS or FEDEX or any carrier with a tracking system to:

Uniden America Corp.
C/O Saddle Creek
743 Henrietta Creek Rd., Suite 100
Roanoke, Texas 76262
ATTN. REPAIR

• Your repair status will be available on the upon receiving your product and processed for repair, which is approximately 5-7 business days. You may check status by visiting our web site at Uniden | A World Without Wires - Uniden Repair Center or call our repair department @ 1-800-235-3874

Can anyone confirm that address and phone number as legit Uniden? I know the main headquarters is in Irving so it might be legit but I wasn't able to confirm it myself

EDIT: Judging by this it sounds legit

At one point my social engineering seemed to indicate @UnidenSupport was an account belonging to these people...

I really don't recall what lead me to that guess, so don't hold me to it.

A Look at Google Maps show this address to be a "Safeway" Distribution Warehouse.

That's not the whole story. While the grocery distribution warehouse is in that area, there are a number of other companies also have operations there. As already noted, "Saddle Creek" functions as the 'mail-room' or shipping address for various companies in that business park complex.

If you Google 'Saddle Creek' you'll find that they have other offices in business parks in the Tarrant County area.

Switch from the map to 'street view' & take a virtual tour through that area & you'll see what I mean. Among other companies, there's a large Facebook data center nearby.

In another thread there was a general question about UnidenSupport and the website unidensupport.com (I think that is the URL).

I was able to find out this is run by one of the Uniden Customer Service Reps. They have been trying to ask internally about me as well.

I did not doubt the authenticity of that account/website, but at the same time I did not know why they are. Now I do.

So, long story short, all is good. Hopefully UnidenSupport will be more active as needed.
