Well, if your talking aviation talk which is what this section is for I am thinking it is a certain VOR located in Birmingham, Alabama. Usually that is a fix or waypoint used by pilots on their flight plan. VOR stands for VHF Omnidirectional Range. Pilots dial in a frequency or in older models set a needle to it and fly the route. If they are going from one VOR to the other, they will set a new heading for the next VOR after they hit that one. And will eventually end up at their destination. You'll hear the ARTCC tell pilots "cleared direct Vulcan", or "cleared to the Vulcan VOR", etc. Something like that.
