Why are Transit Police Depts on 160mhz ?

At least in NJ and in New York City the transit police operates on 160mhz...can anyone tell me why this is so?

Because the Transit Police is another name for the RailRoad Police, so they operate on the same spectrum as the RailRoad, all the live long day. :)
