I wouldn't think Radio Reference came up with the function tags in a vacuum. I'm sure this had to be out there for general discussion before it was ever cast in stone. So apparently, at the time, there just wasn't interest in having a marine/maritime tag as opposed to a generic transportation.
Why is there no Marine Service type?

I hacked the Sentinel exe file to change those Custom service types to say something else in Sentinel but as mentioned it is just numbers that are used in the configure files that the scanner uses and the firmware takes service type #225, or wherever the custom ranges starts, and pick the name tag from a list in the firmware, which is encrypted.
Hit_Factor, you're looking at the Search ranges assignments to button 1-2-3. You are using the custom ranges 1-2-8 in your search limit configuration to be quick selected by button 1-2-3 and are not the service types.
