Hmmmmmmmm...???
While I don't, yet, have a WS1080 I have a PSR800, and PSR700 that I bought pretty much around the initial `release'. And, over all the years I've been using it I haven't had any `accidental' keypress `problems' other than a few `operator errors' AKA 'Fumble Finger Syndrome' variety.
I've stuck my PS800 or PSR700 in jeans front pockets, `Sweat pants' pockets, assorted jacket pockets (I've got several leather jackets ranging through a leather `flight jacket' Iinherited from one of my uncles that is WWII vintage up to a couple `dressup' `sports jacket' types and `overcoat' types.), and assorted `belt/fanny packs', `shoulder bag' pockets/compartments without any `accidental keypresses'.
The `Fumble Finger Syndrome, AKA: FFS' `accidental' key presses only occured within about the first month or two as I was learning the `system' / `layout' of the scanner VS the `ten key pad' layout of my other/older/conventional HH scanners.
Nowdays... switching between `conventional' / PS800 style `keypads is pretty much a `no brainer' affair with only the various FFS incidents occuring with either an occasional `brain fart' or `distraction' as a most likely cause of not hitting the appropriate/right button. Though, since I now mainly `usually' only carry either my PS800, PSR700, or both, rather than my PSR500, which does have a`keypad lockout (That I seldom used.) I haven't have very many `accidental/brain fart' `episodes' like what would be expected.
As for the mention of the setting to set how the PSR700, PSR800, and WS1080 responds to keypresses... That setting is actually for when the backlighting is activated. (On the PSR800, and most likely also the WS1080 there is also a choice in the settings for whether the backlight is basically always on when the scanner is using an external power source.)
