I've noticed every so often that a user name will have a line through it with a notation that the account was deleted due to "duplicate account."

Why in the world would anyone want to create a duplicate account on radioreference?

I see some that say “banned for the greater good” and I wonder what they did to get that.

Generally that's because of a verbal fight that went way beyond what was necessary and past the point that was useful for the site's users. Often this action was taken after continued battles following prior warnings were issued.

The Infraction System is described here.

The moderators generally don't discuss enforcement actions in public.

Myself, I think the enforcement has been pretty fair. Some of the ones that's been hit with “banned for the greater good” were right on.
I know that there's been times that I pushed the limit just a might too far.
The mods do an outstanding job of trying to keep RR clean and one of the best RF information websites around.
(call me brown nosin' if you want, but the above is correct!)

Question asked and answered. Going to close it before it turns into a love/hate thread about the Moderators.
