I have a Verizon FIOS outlet right near me. I will go over there and get a newer router. with WPA2. Is this an issue Paul (UPMan) with WEP and these dongles, because I sure cannot get any of my 3 dongle/536HP pairs to connect in infrastructure mode with a WEP password.

Works really well. Seeing how much data is streamed makes me hopeful that Siren will show more data (trunk site info) than the 536 display itself does.

What is the meaning of the F0 and S0 on the RH-536HP app? Mine only shows the dash characters. Will this change at some point?

If you show only dashes, that means when you programmed your favorite lists, you didn't assign any quick keys.

I just wanted to relate my own experience with the BCD536HP WiFi. It did not take long to set this up once I read and followed the instructions and both RH-536 software and VLC media player appear to be working fine. So far, so good.

Under WiFi it says Version 0.00 But he doesn't remember ever updating the Dongle (my little Brother 52 years old) He tells me that he only just the other day took it out of the box. Puzzled ?????

If you already attempted the update from 5.01 (and are receiving error 0004 or the Dongle firmware version reports as 0.00), unplug the wifi dongle and delete the file "BC-WF1..." from the "firmware" directory on your scanner. Leave the dongle unplugged until we issue an update.

We will have a fix. I've been testing an early version and it worked on 2 dongles. I've got an outside tester who has also confirmed that he got it to work on his. So, just a bit of patience, please, and we'll get this one behind us.

Help: Error Code 0004 on scanner display, I cannot get to the firmware file to del

I need help. Terrible instructions on updating the wifi adapter. Says to check version on Menu.. what menu. I assumed i didn't have Version 5.01 and updated the scanner and received Error Code: 0004 which froze the display.

how do i get scanner turned on to delete the firmware as instructed ? Scanner doesn't respond.

Oh, what is it? It is Phase 1 of our app-supporting firmware release. It includes a new version of Sentinel that will apply updates to both your scanner and Wi-Fi dongle, allowing them to be accessed over an internet link. It also includes a PC based remote-control utility and instructions for installing VLC to get the audio stream from the scanner.

Current plan is to incrementally improve the remote control support in 5 phases over the next few months. This gets us to being able to operate the scanner in scanning mode over a IP link. Future updates will add support for additional modes.

Just as an FYI...

Really shouldn't use WEP on your wireless anyways. Its easily hacked in a matter of moments. WPA, or preferably WPA2, is more secure.

I had the dongle still in the scanner. I removed it and was able to get the scanner to reboot. Then I deleted the wifi firmware. Thank you for the fast reply.

In my case, I'm only running those three FL under that particular start up configuration. A year into it, and I'm still learning better ways to program the scanner. I now know that I can program one FL and set it to start under multiple start up keys. Which is something I commented on not being able to do with the XT scanners.

But I digress. I swapped out my newer 536HP with the older on in my truck. I did the updated on that one successfully when the update first came out, but wasn't able to get RH536 to work. Turns out it was operator error and once I manually entered the dongle's IP address, it now works fine.

The first thing I would do is contact Fios and get a newer router. WEP IS NOT SECURE. I have fios here and my router works with WAP2.Also maybe UPman can let us know if the dongle will accept WEP encryption for anyone else having this problem.

I still cant get the remote program to find the scanner. It just says not detected.
