Anyone know what is going on with the live scanner feed from Wichita? It looks like it is running, but there is no sound. Yes my speaker is turned on, volume is turned up, and I can hear other stations. It has been running for several minutes and not a sound out of it.

I can not take it any more. The silence is going to kill me. Hit the 15 minute shut down Wichita and fired up Denver. There is action in Denver.

My ears feel so better, hearing sound :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Were you chasing for the fun of it? Part of your job or are you part of Skywarn or Storm Chasers?

Cant sleep ........look

 Tell me about it! I'm right in the middle of the "o" in Hutchinson.

It was really kind of funny tonight on the airwaves. One of the PD officers parked his K-9 unit on a side street and left the "dawg in the car" to start going door to door telling people to evacuate. When he looked back down the street, the car was not where he left it and the water was up to the bottom of the doors. Needless to say he was a bit worried. Another handler was able to get to the car and after some "intense negotiations," as he put it, with the dog, was able to get him out and to safety.

Another officer was sent on an alarm call to a discount store, but refused to get out of the car and check the building. He said there had been at least 10 to 15 lightning strikes to the light poles in the parking lot while he was there. One was close enough to reboot his MDT. Can't say I blame him actually.

My rainguage shows 9.76 inches of rain, and I think that may be a little low.

AND... I guess we are in for another round tonight.....n0lqt -.-

Mainly for fun... I was with RACES for a while, and I still have ties.

My wife and I was leaving newton and got caught in it, I seen a few other RACES spotters where I pulled off the road to watch the storm pass and we got to talking....and watching ....then moving away for another view, and talking, well before i knew i was in the mix again. Just like old times!

I been getting interested in it again latley. One of my old friends have been taking some of the coolest pics I have ever seen. Spent his retirement money on a Hi end Digital camera.

N0LQT, What part of Newton did they evac?

All told, about 15-20 homes I think. Mostly from about E 4th St and Duncan south to SE 6th St and Kansas Ave. Just "at risk" locations along Slate Creek. The "channel" is not very deep in those areas and the banks are quite low. With 10+ inches of rain in less than 6 hours, it went out of its bank VERY quickly.

Also a few people from the W 12th St area between Anderson and Plum. The is a drainageway that runs between the two lanes of 12th St that empties into Sand Creek. Sand Creek, which is the main drainage channel for the entire town, filled up just about as fast. Because of flooding concerns in Sedgwick, 12 miles downstream, they can not let the control dam down as far anymore.

Our big problem is that the high point to the low point in the county is less than 100 feet difference....n0lqt-.-

Buckskinner, what is RACES?

Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services, You should have one in Salina. I always remebered Salina being a pretty large HAM community.
