I'll be moving to Hervey Bay Queensland soon. Is there anything there to listen too or am I moving into scanner oblivion?

For the moment you can get all EMS on analog, I believe QPS are in the process of moving that region to digital with encryption soon following going by what has been said here. You should still get Fire and Ambulance for a while yet. Other than that, I'm not sure what else is locally around. Have a squiz at the ACMA database for a bit more info
