I've been searching and reading forums for days and I'm still not able to reconnect my BCD536HP to my network. I've never really had any connectivity problems until recently. My connection was dropped and I cannot get my scanner to reconnect. My firmware is up to date. My dongle version is 7.28. The scanner searches for and finds my network with no problem. I enter my password and the response is "connecting error". I'm literally 15' from my wireless without obstruction. I've power cycled the network modem and scanner numerous times to no avail.

I would think if the dongle had gone bad I wouldn't be able to see the network.

Bad SD card? Bad karma?

Any suggestions?

I will make the assumption that you have not made any mods to your wifi router or the 536. If the 536 can see the SSID from your router, thats a good thing! If everything else in your home can also connect to the same wifi, I would almost eliminate the router as the culprit. One of the questions I would ask is if have checked to see if you are trying connect via WPA or WPA2. Also is the encryption configured for TKIP, AES or set for either. Sometimes devices dont like to have to make their own choices and need to be forced or fixed to one thing. I am not totally familiar with the 536 so is it capable of connecting via 802.11 B, G and N? I would look to make sure your wifi router is set for WPA2 with AES and that it allows for B, G and N just in case.

Bingo!

Security on the wireless was set to WPA2, I changed that to WPA/WPA2 and that did the trick. Not sure how it got changed but I'm back in business.

Thanks!

Glad you were able to get it working. Guess I am kinda surprised that the 536 would not talk WPA2 straight up and you had to change it to WPA/WPA2 to get it to work...so I'll scratch my head on that but happy you are back in business
