On the Pro96, to scan for new objects in a system, I would leave the bank "open" to search for new talkgroups ... I've read somewhere that I can do this with my PSR-500 and PSR-600, but I don't seem to remember how.

Anyone point me in the right direction? Preferably in Win500.

Thanks a bunch.

Exactly how you said in the title. Put a wildcard talkgroup (group.. you can do private too if you wish) in the system and it will act the same as an "Open" bank on the Pro-96.

Technically, there is a difference in "open mode" and "searching for new talkgroups."

In the PSR radios. if you truly want to find new talkgroups, and want to hear ONLY new talkgroups, you can put a wildcard in a scanlist by itself. Then set (in Global settings) TGRP Ignore = Yes.

Scan the scanlist that contains the wildcard, and you will then only hear TGs that are not stored in the scanner.

Then, say you have all of your EMS TGs in scanlist 3, and your wildcard in scanlist 4. If you wanted to listen to ONLY EMS and "new" talkgroups, you can enable scanlists 3 and 4, and that is all you will hear.

This radio is wonderful for customizing what you want to hear.
