Wildest Day Yet on the Rivers

I am using 3 scanners this afternoon trying to keep up with all of the activity on the Guadalupe and Comal rivers. There are two helicopters going non-stop transmporting injuries. Several big fights on River Rd and traffic non-stop on both 155.595 and 156.000. More fights breaking out on River Rd. Comal SO trying to get all units to clear calls for back up.


In New Braunfels jet skiers have injured several people. Toobers coming past the park on the Comal river are showing their breasts when passing a music stand. There have been several calls for additional back up.
The chief and all staff officers along with all detectives are on duty.

New Braunfels FD has all 3 EMS units running from call to call. The Canyon Lake and other county fire units are busy on 154.295. Woman fell off a rock down 15 feet not breathing. One helicopter had to sit down on the 1st Crossing bridge and stopped all River Rd traffic. Helicopter pilot was trying to get them to clear the tubers out as the downblast would turn them all over. No joy on getting them out of the way, he went ahead and landed.

Have 1 scanner on city using LCRA, 1 listening to Comal SO and 1 on county FD. Radio traffic is so heavy one scanner never come close to getting even half of the action.

It has indeed been an interesting three days on the Guadalupe River and at Canyon Lake. I had three rigs going - one locked on Airlife, one scanning the LCRA Comal site and one scanning conventional channels. The LCRA system is a very good system from my perspective as it allows me to monitor stations more distant than I could otherwise. Fortunately the Comal site was affiliated with New Braunfels, San Marcos, Fayette SO and Kendall SO for most of the weekend.

I heard the call where the girl fell from the cliff. Also heard a call where a male was crushed in the water by a raft, a drowning plus numerous other calls.

Alcohol seemed to be a factor in many of the problems.

Yes, I indeed heard this traffic this weekend, from my house I am actually able to get the NB LCRA site which has lots of LCNs and traffic.

Gill, good stuff out there - it's fun to listen to, even more fun to be a part of (well.. for the most part).... anyway, I would have loved to be the guy floating under the bridge when airlife landed. That would have been a story to tell.
