Extremely dry conditions throughout the state....and there isn't an end in sight for most areas. I've been listening to new fires start almost every day in Flagler , St. Johns, and Putnam counties. Before you know it, they're hundreds of acres, some in just a couple hours. The biggest one around here is the Espanola fire, which is about 1800 acres/25 % contained. Been monitoring it since it started last Monday...it is merciless; jumps every line they plow. Any fires in any of your areas?

Yeah it's been really smoky all around the last few days. And unless it rains SIGNIFICANT amounts, the thunderstorms are only making it worse. Yesterday Palm Coast got a good bit of rain, but the fires around it did not. AND the lighting started a bunch of new fires.
Espanola had a 200 acre breakout yesterday. The I/C requested a type 1 (heavy) helicopter...I don't even think the state owns one of those.
Scott declared a state of emergency due to the fires yesterday, and will be in Flagler county at the Espanola fire today.

3 Homes and 45 other structures destroyed in Volusia county.
I caught a little bit of this on the forestry channels yesterday...It took off like crazy, by the time they realized it was going for the structures there wasn't much time left.

Trying to figure out the frequencies used on the Espanola...It's hard to pull in from my location because they're using mostly simplex, but I got them on DOF TAC 190/151.2725, getting some traffic that might be from Espanola on the regular tacs 3 & 4/151.235 & 151.295,Fireflight is talking to Espanola ground crews on the Red channel/154.265 (Red is also patched w/ Flagler disaster 3/ TG 0483), and also getting something on DOF mobile to mobile ch1/ 159.315 (might be Espanola, not sure).
