2 fires apprx. 1/2 mile apart near the Cedar Creek (south) Jug Gluch (north) area adjacent to Drake. Loveland Fire is working along with F.S. Engine 653 and Larimer Ocean 5. Small size 1-5 acres. Could possibly be from intense lightning storm that came through last evening (8-15). No structural threats as of yet, but this is the same vicinity as the Bobcat Gulch fire quite a few years back.

L.F. Talkgroup 2
L.F. Talkgroup 3 for structural protection

FERN 1 other traffic?

Smoke jumpers in the air unable to jump due to another aircraft in the vicinity, most likely the media.

Jug gulch 10 acres
Cedar creek 3-5 acres

A Firefighter stated that he saw a tree that had been struck by lightning in the center of one of the burn areas.

LARIMER COUNTY - Two wildfires are burning west of Loveland near the Big Thompson Canyon.

The Cedar Creek Fire has grown to five acres but is 80 percent contained. The Gulch Fire is still at about 10 acres.

Both fires are in the Palisade Mountain area.

Both U.S. Forest Service and Larimer County Firefighters are responding.

Four smoke jumpers are also coming in from Grand Junction.

Additional resources have been ordered, including more aerial support.

There are no evacuations. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
