Hello all. I have a Uniden BCD436HP. My neighboring county in Mississippi, Wilkinson County has been P25 digital for quite a while. I live in Amite Co. I can hear Wilkinson Co on SDR-Trunk which also uses Radio Reference for loading locations, but the Sentinal software doesn't have it available. They show the towers and Wilkinson Co has 3 of them. But when I go down the list of counties on the MSWIN network, Wilkinson County, county #79 is not in the list so that I can append it to a favorite's list. I think they have just let one get by and just need to update it to make it available. Any suggestions?

This is not a Uniden/Sentinel issue, but rather a simple case of Wilkinson County not having any talkgroups listed in the MSWIN system in the RadioReference database (RRDB). Why that is, I can't say. Are you certain that the county has talkgroups on the system?

I would suggest submitting any known talkgroups for the county to the system so they can be added to the MSWIN system, then they will be available in Sentinel on the Monday morning following them getting added to the RRDB.

I used Radio Reference in SDR-Trunk to load Wilkinson Co on my laptop and I hear them there fine and quite often and they show a talk group ID. At least the Centreville PD, closest to me, does. So I don't think it's a RR issue either because it shows up in RR search to load it. But can't do that with the Sentinal software on my 436

Is there a way to load the frequencies from the tower sites in a 436 because both RR and Sentinel show those?

Thanks for the quick answer earlier. I appreciate it.

Please list the exact talkgroups that Wilkinson County are using on the system that you're seeing in SDRTrunk.

There is no talkgroup category for the county in the database, and the only mention of the county aside from the 3 sites is for the MHP District 9. No local talkgroups anywhere to be found, unless they are sharing them with a neighboring county. No listings at all for Centreville.

Should have a forum admin move this to the MS forum.

If they are on MSWIN, try Talkgroups Seen on System: Mississippi Wireless Information Network (MSWIN)
I clicked on several of the unknowns, quite a bit of encryption heard. You can adjust the 'Show' for different timeframes.
Some 45 unknown talkgroups in the 1 week link above, plenty of unknowns we've used to identify in Michigan this way, even one today.
If you select ALL TIME, MANY 100's of talkgroups show up unidentified.

The radio ID's for each talkgroup, if MS does the same as MI, with 82 counties MS, Wilkinson would be 79?

I just load all of Wilkinson Co towers and Centreville starting talking. I have a friend who has a BCD436 a quarter mile from me and he's never heard them.

Only one I saw for Wilkinson(79) was an ADMIN: Talkgroup: 58900 / Description: Sheriff Administration / Alias: 79-SO Admin.
I'm working in Oklahoma but I head home tomorrow for a few days and I'll listen for Centreville PD and try to figure out where he's talking from. The Gloster tower in Amite Co next door is probably less than 5 or 6 miles from Centreville and would be possible for them to use. But it doesn't show that anywhere. I'll get Centreville's talk group # They are definitely using P25 on MSWIN.

Thanks again,

Okay I see 58900 in the RRDB now, listed under Washington County (76). Are you 100% certain that this is a Wilkinson County talkgroup, and it's simply labeled wrong and should be 76-SO ADMIN? The talkgroup ID falls right in line with the other Washington County Sheriff block.

Seems that there is a good chance you're hearing another county's talkgroup and mistaking it for something local due to a typo in the database.

As for Centreville and/or other Wilkinson County activity you're hearing, I suspect that none of those talkgroups have been added to the RRDB yet, and thus you're probably seeing only the talkgroup ID in SDRTrunk and no description/label. If that is the case, then you're going to need to identify the usage of these undocumented talkgroups so that you can submit them to be added to MSWIN.

You are right. When Centreville PD talked, it just gave a talkgroup ID but I heard them say, "Centreville PD to Centreville 3. When my home town Gloster PD talks, it ID's them by the town, Gloster PD. I will try to get as much info as I can on Wilkinson Co so that it can be correctly added to the RRDB and easy to load on Sentinal. If it hadn't been for me hearing them on SDRTrunk, all of us scanner users would figure they would still analog. haha. They're too close to us and have a lot of activity to not be able to listen to them. Thanks again for the help. You've been very patient and accommodating.

I also agree that the Sheriff Admin is a typo and should be 76 instead of 79.

Yep, definitely start collecting talkgroup IDs and usage for the county so that you can submit them to be added to the database, at which point they'll show up in Sentinel within a week.

Fixed.

I'm going to ask the mods to move this thread to the Mississippi forum with a new title to better reflect the situation.

The counties are listed alphabetical order
I can get the Centreville PD with my SDR-trunk on my laptop for some reason but I can't find a way to get it with Sentinel loading it to my BCD436HP. When you get to where Wilkinson Co. (county 79) should be in the list, where I load all the other counties I listen to in SW Mississippi, it's not there to append to favorites. There are 3 MSWIN towers in Wilkinson and I can load them individually, but that still doesn't give me Centreville or Woodville or Wilkinson Co sheriff's dept. I know for sure Centreville is on MSWIN because I"ve heard them on my laptop. However, it only IDs them by the Group ID#. But it's definitely them.

The RR database relies on submissions from users to update the database with the latest data. No Wilkinson County TalkGroups - including Centreville PD - have been submitted to the database. Therefore, Wilkinson County is not included in the list of TalkGroups in MSWIN.

Once you have identified the TalkGroups used in Wilkinson County, you are encouraged to submit them for inclusion in the database. Once these talkgroups are added to the RR database, they will become available in Sentinel within a week.

Best guess is that the RR database has the wrong freqs for PINCKNEYVILLE and WOODVILLE sites. The DOLOROSA site is also listed but it has one CC freq listed so it may be working. The CC freqs can change for many reasons, so you'll want to verify (with the SDR) the strongest sites in your county.

See the specifics here: ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WQPL321 - MISSISSIPPI, STATE OF - WIRELESS COMMUNICATION COMMISSION

KX5E, make sure you're monitoring these local sites and then note the TGIDs found and compare with the master list.

Thank you. I'm in Amite Co adjoining to the east of Wilkinson and we'd like to get this done. I'll monitor them with my sdr-trunk and get the group ID #s and get them submitted. I know Centreville talks and hopefully all the group IDs are close to that.

@QuietPlease you want to jump in here?
Sorry, I've been away from the computer. I think the question has been pretty much answered. The talkgroups simply haven't been been submitted yet.

@KX5E, if you can find out what talkgroups they're using, please submit them and I'll be glad to add them to the database.
