Will this be the last update for BCD396T scanner? I can not find the answer for my question. I hope they continue updating this scanner. If you know the response let me know.
Interesting that Uniden went to the effort to implement an ESN to track individual radios to be able to track software purchases, and now this is the *last* update?
Why lay the ground work and then abandon it?
I agree I thought they were going to have paid updates
But maybe it was a test / trial for the 396XT
I want a firmware update for my 1995 Jeep Sahara and my 1968 house and my.......
I just don't understand the expectation of free features that some seem to expect. I'm just happy it's happening at all.

No, that isn't what people are saying. That is a perfect example of how GRE discovers a problem and fixes it, unlike Uniden who just makes a new radio. The part that I don't get is how people complain about how GRE has had 14 firmware updates and Uniden has had only 1 or 2 in the same amount of time. That's kind of like saying that since Ubuntu Linux only had 1 or 2 updates this week and Windows XP had 14, that Windows is clearly better. The OS war issue notwithstanding, lots of bugfixes/firmware updates does not equal a better product.
what paid updates would you want? the scanner does everything you paid for it..
All the whining on the forum about paying for upgrades probably caused them to abandon the idea.

I can think of lots of things...
#1. NFM voice channels for EDACS wide
(UPMan says this is in new radio, yeah!)
#2. Alert on unknown TGIDs
#3. Better LTR support ala GRE
#4. Multi-site Trunking
#5. More service search ranges
Add US TRS 'bands' e.g. 406.1-419-9875, 380-399.9875, 800MHz (don't remember)
#6. More customer search ranges
#7. Auto latch CTCSS SEARCH
#8. Allow simultaneous digital and CTCSS/DCS search
#9. More TGIDs per system
#10. More 'debug' info to be able to figure out base/offset for non-800/900MHz trunk
...
I'm not saying that I *paid* for those when the radio when it came out. And I don't think that software is *free* or that I'm entitled to it. All I'm saying is that if there is space for more code, I can think of features I'd like to see...
