WILL RS SELL THE 396?

The "kid" at Radio Shack told me that they would have the 396 in stock "in about a month". What do all you smart people think? I would think it would have to be sold as a Pro ??. The reason I'm concerned is that I have never bought anything on the internet, and have no place to have it delivered. This is such a GREAT website, because I know I will get feedback on this question. Almost bedtime, but I'll be back.

If they wanted to sell two models, they would have KEPT the BC250D when their PRO-96 came out! What does that tell you about their desire to sell units that compete with 'their own'?

I would find it hard to believe that RS would be selling the 396 also, as it's thier main competition. As Voyager pointed out, RS had the Uniden 250D for sale (reportedly to gauge how well an expensive digital scanner would sell), but as soon at the Pro-96 was on the shelf, the 250D was history in RS stores.

I don't think you'll see it, however, stranger things have happened in the corporate world!

RS selling 396

i don't forsee them selling the 396 per se but they might make a version of their own with a builtin rescue tone out instead of fire tone out and have RS version of closecall and everything but selling the actual uniden 396 will never happen probably. GRE will make their own coppy and it will be sold as the pro 99 and pro 2099 if that's how it works out

Yep - those would be the replacements for the 96 and 2096 if they hold to the numbering scheme. What is after that, who knows! There already was a PRO-100.

As for a RS version of Close Call, it's called Signal Stalker II. Signal Stalker I was made by Uniden, and GRE came up with something close, but just different enough to avoid patent infringement suits.

Do I think they will carry the 396? No.

Do I think they will have a replacement for the PRO-96 that will try to compete with the 396? Well, do you think the sun will rise tomorrow?
