I think it has the same vocoder as the x36 radios.Something tells me that the HP-2 is internally similar to the 325P2 & 996P2 - just enough re-tooling of the hardware to enable Phase-II for the customers that couldn't afford top-tier models like the 436 & 536.
That means the vocoder isn't designed to handle all the new modes or the processor in the scanner is not fast enough...
I believe that is correct. Now the question: Does it have enough memory to hold the additional code. Assuming that is confirmed, the big one which trumps all other questions: Is Uniden's marketing going to allow the high end digital decoding features in a low end digital scanner?
