will the vx7r save a PL tone for each memory?

Yes it will save it. You must have forgot to set the tone when you originally saved the channel. Try changing it to what you want then resave it.

Mike, it has to be saved in the VFO mode( along with the frequency), then saved to the memory channel again. There is freeware for programming the VX7. Check out Jim Mitchell - KC8UNJ
