I found this antenna while cleaning out a truck I'm wondering if it will work as a covert antenna for my POV and how well it might work for San Diego-Imperial County RCS NextGen Project 25 Phase II APCO-25 Common Air Interface Exclusive

Looks like a GPS/vehicle tracker antenna. According to the sticker on the wire in the photo, it is designed for 850/1900 mhz band. Probably won't work for that system.

Actually if this is the system you're talking about.....

the answer is 'maybe'. The only thing you would damage is your wallet by trying it. You would need a jumper from the antenna connection to your scanner, but since it says '850 / 1900 Mhz', it might be worth a shot. It might be quite helpful if it's a low gain type antenna; I see that system has some simulcast on it, and you don't want an antenna with a whole lot of gain on it, assuming you aren't using a SDS100 or 200

its installed on my suv and its working just fine. its doing bit better than the 800 mhz antenna that replaces the original one. been looking for something hidden/covert didnt want to scratch the roof with a mag mount or drill a hole. i guess its a good find not perfect but will work.
