CP still on analog

A lot of unidentified TG's this weekend ---- seems to be a few additionals for GT PD and WCSO, I'm still trying to figure them out but not too much success. Still seems like CP PD is still using analog though.

I've only been listening to RRPD & RRFD lately. Not sure what's going on in the rest of the county. Round Rock is about the only thing I care to listen to and have for over 30 years simply because that's where I hang my hat.
If I hear of anything big going on in the county, then i'll try to monitor that event.

Understand Roy ---- I just keep scanning across the entire WILCO, just to see whats out there. I'm surprised that after such a large posting of Fire/EMS ID's a few weeks back, I am still hearing FIRE/EMS IDs that are not identified. Certainly seems many more than the old analog system.
Still don't see too many identified ID's for Law Enforcement, guess everyone's trying to figure them out...

Hey Russell or somebody, please update the following in the database. If I knew how, I would do so myself.

Here's the new Seton ER in Round Rock. It is 4778.
Round Rock Hospital ER is 4774.

Thank you:)

Sorry, I've always maintained a position here that while I'll gladly share overall information about our system, I don't get into talkgroups.

is pgm'ing that easy ?

1st, thanks for y'alls work to figure these out. Been lurking for a few months since I could not hear any traffic on the radio, learning (still) a lot.
Just got a new pro 2096 (my other 5 scanners are now worthless exept for tone out it seems).
If I understand the process correctly, I get WIN96, join RR as a premium member, do a web import, and quit pulling out what little hair I have left trying to figure out how to program the 2096?

After many weeks of reading, i think i have figured it out....I've loaded the control channels only in bank 0, no talk groups loaded. Seem to be getting a lot of traffic now, and much clearer once I lowered the antenna to one extension. Used both Win96 and and Scan cat lite (which did not have a MOT setting, so confusing) to work with scanner.
The talk group ids listed here I now believe are for information only, to know who is talking, not for programming.

Well you don't *have to* program in the Talkgroup IDs, but most of us do. This way you limit who you hear (don't program in cities or agencies you don't care about) and combined with text labels you can read who is talking instead of having to memorize numbers or look them up online to see who they are.

If you have Win96 I'm sure there is someone on here willing to send you their file so you can load it up with minimal effort.

So guys, what's the best advice for figuring these id's out? By location? users call? etc ...or is there any corelation between the analog and digital id groups? I've heard a lot of new talkgroups come up recently, but have'nt been able to correctly identify one of em'. I can figure the basics ---EMS, LE, or FD, and in some instances the city, but as to whether its a tac channel, traffic, admin ..thats the tough part. LE is more involved as you cannot be sure whether its a city PD, West or East County, or other .... any thoughts?

You're on the right track by first figuring out usage (PD, Fire, etc.) then narrowing it down to agency. Honestly I never consider a TG confirmed until I hear it referred to by name on the air more than once. ie: "1 Adam 9 on Tac 1"

As to which agency, start listening to unit identification numbers/call-signs. It has been over a year since I've been up there but if I remember correctly most agencies sound a little different. If you can tap a scanner and run Unitrunker it will make it much easier since you can monitor radio ids.

Does anyone have a recommended program for programming the Bearcat B396T, and would you mind sharing your database file?

I just use the free Uniden UASD software for mine.

I starting using that yesterday. Once I figured it out it's definitely very usable. Instead of updating the "SYSTEMS" on the GUI, I manipulated the information from the RR frequency page in excel then built my own system files. I loaded into my scanner config and I was off and running!

Thanks FlashSWT, found answers on another thread (days and days of searching and once it was explained in simple terms I got it). I've got multiple banks programmed, some open, some closed, primary chanels only (site 120)- I've graduated to 2nd grade ! Sure was a lot simpler with one agency/one frequency.
Now for a more advanced question, have not been able to find LH Police yet in the DB, either in analog or digital, however I know I was picking them up for a while, using 200 thru 205 or so as call id's.
Any ideas ?

I just like for you guys to know. I live in Cedar Park and the CPPD just recently switched over to the new P-25 system. Their dispatch is 4666 and I keep hearing them say at times to go to a Ch. 2 which is 4664. This could be a Tac channel or a dispatch channel. I do not know for sure at this time. As for 4328 and 4329.. I believe 4328 is the County to PD patch and 4329 I have it as Taylor PD patch. I could be wrong about these two, but it looks about right. Besides that I am currently using a Uniden BC-796D scanner on search mode.
