Pay attention to what actual frequency (not talkgroup) is in use when you hear warbling. This is easy to do on the Uniden scanners since they display it during each call and even easier if you are running Unitrunker. I've noticed down here that I get "bad" reception on certain frequencies no matter what talkgroup is active on it.

I'd be interested in learning this myself; we're suspecting some interference on two of our channels and I'd be very curious to learn if there's a correlation. Thanks

Gary, I sent you a message by email from this RR site.

I'm working on making a list of the channels that i'm picking up the warbling transmissions on.

Warbling sounds. Here's what I have come up with. I am getting warbling sounds on ALL frequencies. (or channels) The talkgroups don't matter. Here's the kicker. On one transmission I will get a good clear voice and then on another transmission I will get a warbling voice. It doesn't appear to be consistent. It doesn't matter if it is a mobile unit or dispatcher. This is system wide. Not just RRPD or RRFD like I originally thought. The 2 worst ones are 855.2125 and 859.9875. The 2 best ones are 856.9625 and 856.9875. I've also tried switching antennas and it doesn't make a difference either.

So, what do you guys think?

Gary?
:)

Williamson Co SO Trunked wa wa wa sounds

If it's a "Wa Wa Wa" sound then the transmitters are out of sync.
The radio techs needs to fixit.. what is happening is that you are hearing one site or transmitter tower and then hearing the other one like seconds later.

The transmission are very garbled. I know it's not the encriptions because I can still make out what they are saying, but it's tough to do. It's not the wa, wa sound either. It almost sounds like they are trying to gargle with mouthwash while trying to talk at the same time. It's also very broken up.

Could this problem be just my scanner? Should I have only the primary control (858.9625) and the alternate (860.9625) control channels programed in? I have all 11 frequencies programed in right now. I'm thinking this might be the problem. What do you guys think?

No idea, I dropped 0857.96250 and am just using the control and secondary channels you listed, everything seems to be coming in fine. If you would like to compare reception on another 396t to see if it is indeed the radio I'm not too far away.

W5, having all 11 frequencies programmed in shouldn't matter. With your 396, once it picks up a P25 CC it ignores everything else programmed and figures out the frequencies on it's own.

Around 23:00 last night, I heard what I think to be RR south dispatch call for any member of the FD to respond. When they did she informed them that the CAD And radio for the FD were down and to have battalion 1 call her.

Sounds like they're having some issues as well, anyone have a more complete report, I fell asleep shortly after I heard the exchange.

I missed it. I was busy doing something and I guess I wasn't paying attention to the radio.

I've been hearing a lot of broken up transmissions today. Even one of the hospitals told one EMS unit to repeat because she couldn't understand what they were tring to say. The transmission was very broken up.

I think they still have some issues with this new system. They got a few more bugs that need to be worked out.

I had some problems about the same time frame as y'all last week with the WILCO stream (796D) Turned out I think the CC switched on us. Now the Alternate is what is working for me and not the Pri CC

I won't be able to reply to that e-mail any longer nor accomodate your request. Might want to watch for Williamson County news over the next few days (or months...) Sorry about that!

NO problem:)

The last week or so, the communications have been terrible. Very broken up. I hope you all are working on this. Dispatch and mobiles are having a lot of problem understanding each other in Round Rock.

Actually, I'm no longer working on it at all, which is likely a big part of the problem (and many others...)

Uh-oh. Wishing you luck, garyva, whatever your troubles may be. You are a good helper with the many listeners in the area.

Sorry to hear that Gary. Hope things work out well for you in whatever course you take. You've been a great asset to this forum guy. Keep us informed.

Take care,
