Wilmington-New Hanover County Project 25 TRS

Last week, I was talking with a friend of mine at Motorola, and he informed me that the current Wilmington-New Hanover County TRS, is going to be completely overhauled. The game plan is to replace it with a new Project 25 simulcast TRS. Moreover, their FCC license has been modified for the correct emission designators for the new system. Does anyone have an idea as to when this system will go online?

My source in New Hanover County says the system should be up and running in P25 status within the next 18 months, as long as the County Commissioners approve the funding.

This comes from a contact inside the radio shop that maintains the system as it is now.

Hopefully their coverage will get better and they can get the system up and running like it should be....
