Is there an easy way to copy one or more complete banks (frequencies & talkgroups) from an existing file to a "new template"? I'm trying to get some files setup that will always have 7 Denver banks, but 2 seperate suburb banks. Thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand the question 100%, but you can always "save as" to a new file name, then change the new file. Also, not sure if Win95 has Edit/Bank Editor like Win96/97, but if it does, check that out too!

When copying & pasting from the existing file to the new template, the only way I can figure is to copy the frequencies to the template, then the talkgroups in sub-bank one, then sub-bank two etc. I was wondering if it could be done in one step?

Windows Explorer. Copy the file. Paste as many times as you want. Rename files. Edit each one as appropriate.

You can copy a sub-bank from the master file and paste into a suburb file.

Have you tried the export / import function?
I will give that a try, however I have never done the import/export thing. I'm only a 75 watt bulb in a 100 watt box, but I've learned everything computerwise on my own using the the old trail & error method. Thanks to ALL for the replies.

Hmmm, I was not aware that Win95 had any import/export functions. I have version 0.13 and I don't see them in my menu, is there a trick?

Barring that, a combination of saving the template as a different file name and the bank editor should be able to accomplish what you are trying to do.

I don't see any export/import options either, which is good because I wouldn't know how to use them. I did the save file etc thing, BUT still have the question above when using the bank editor. It took me 6 steps to change one bank. It's still pretty cool to play with for an old man. I keep hoping Santa will bring me a 396, but considering who Santa is in my house, it aint gonna happen :( . I hear that the 396 software is really a bee-autch to learn.

I only had Win96, and Win97 installed. I installed Win95 to compare features, and you are correct, it does not have an import/export, like Win96, and Win97 have. Sorry about the confusion. I thought they all had the same feature set.

Nah... As long as you understand the concept of Dynamic Memory (as opposed to banks and lists) it is just as easy as any other radio to program. I will say that have to learn the "quirks" of any software out there, but really not too tough.

Do you still have banks at all? I thought you still had banks, but could have 5 tg's in one then 88 in another if needed.

Umm, I assume you mean for a Dynamic Memory radios (BC246T and BCD396T); if so, no they do not have banks. You assign "systems" a certain amount of memory depending on what they need for frequencies and in the case of trunked systems talkgroups. For example, a typical TRS will have a set of frequencies and then a set of Groups (used to organize talk groups into like things) containing the TG information. This uses only the memory required to store that amount of information and no more, leaving the rest of the memory for more systems. Take a look at the Uniden product information for maximum number of systems, frequencies, talk groups, etc.
