Bezking...tried it with both programs with no luck. I also undid the last 2 windows updates and it did no good.
Win 96 and 97 now inop...

try this if you havent already
go to the folder they are installed in and delete the hole file and dump recycle bin
i have vista with both programs and only problem was i for got to set admin when i installed

COM ports are not addressed when you open the program, only if you attempt to sync with the scanner.

I have deleted, dumped, emptied, fixed registries and it still gives the same error message that I put up earlier...Half tempted to go find a used laptop with xp and start over again. This sucks....

Ughh...still nothing. Turned off my antivirus and firewall and it still wont go.
I know that this must be frustrating...
Have you tried running any of the other Win9x software? The free ones, Win92 & Win95 may give some further insight.

Don't know why but after the last updated that was installed for vista, PRO 96 and 97 now work again....what a nutty OS.
Slightly OT comment.
My wife needed a new laptop. I hunted far and wide until I found that you still buy ThinkPads that are loaded with XP instead of Vista, guess what she got. :lol:
