Hello all. FIrst off I want to say that I have been lurking in the shadows for awhile trying to learn all the new stuff there is to the scanning hobby after a break of 20+ years.

I recently purchased a RS Pro 97 and the WIN97 software to load up the freqs. However, am I doing something wrong? I use the web import feature of the WIN97, enter the county and state, but I am only getting a partial listing of the freqs available in my area. When I go to the RR database, it shows police, fire, etc. However, these do not show up as available to download into WIN97.

Thanks for the help

Right now it will only show the trunking systems for your area. Things are being worked on to allow you to download all of the systems but that is in the future.

Which software program should be used in programming the PRO-97?
IMO, Win97 is still the best bet because Windows based programs such as copy and paste work very well in any Winxx program. In a spread sheet, you can create a column of freqs with another column of alpha tags then copy/paste both columns simultaneously into Win97.

For someone who has never used a spreadsheet, is there somewhere to read up on doing that?

Thanks

Type excel in goggle search box.

I know excel is used, but I was wondering if there is a "how to" section to copy/paste both columns simultaneously into Win97? I know that the freq & TG info is in separate places on win97.

I'm sure I'm not the olny person who would like to know.

Code:
CHESAPEAKE 868.4625 MOT
CHESAPEAKE 868.7250 MOT
CHESAPEAKE 868.7875 MOT
CHESAPEAKE 868.9875 MOT

These are the 4 CC's with the city alpha tags. I've added a third column which would set the Trunk type also.

To copy from excel, left click and hold in the first block with Chesapeake, drag across to the top Mot, drag down through the last Mot. All 12 blocks should be highlighted at this time. Right click and select Copy. In your blank Win97 window, right click in the alpha tag box and select past. All 12 blocks should now be in Win97. Of course, you could do this with up to fifty tags and freqs. Next, if the system is trunking as the example I used, do the same with the tags and id's.

Edit: Fact is, I highlighted and copied this group in the above code and pasted them into the program.

So if you were cutting & pasting from the RRDB, you would have to set things up in Excel so you could C&P to win97? OK, Just wondered if there was an easy way you did it. If you have things in excel, that'd be a great way to work it.

Thanks

Use Paste special and select text in the dialog window. Paste special is in the options pulldown when you right click in an excel block.
