I have 2 problems, really more but for now just 2. First I can't get sound on my psr600. I have the Ky State Police programmed in , and by the way i done it manually before i bought the win500 software. I've never been able to get any sound even though i see on the display that i am getting a strong signal. When I did DL the win500 and went into the montior/control tab it looks like its muted. Not for sure how or what i did or didn't do when i manually entered the freq.into the PSR600. Also I tried to enter the KEY of the win500 software once i purchaed it into RR.com, but it says its an invalid key. I'm about to pull my hair out. I actually wanted to use the database from RR.com to program my scanner but right now i can't get nothing to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

PSR 500/600 Manual Programming

If you attempt to type the very long Win500 software key, you might have made an error. This is the only thing that bothered me about this programming software.

Since I am computer programming dependent, I never use manual programming because it is so easy to make a mistake. Furthermore, your field of view is limited to the scanner screen. Hence, it is not my preference. Yes, you can learn about your radio, but it is so laborious to do so.

I know how frustrated you might be because I've had similar problems as well. When I manually programmed mine, I detached the TSYS from the associated TG's. It resulted in a heap error. I was unable to fix it until I went into the radio via Win500 to see what was wrong.

More recently, I loaded the state of Oklahoma in the radio with incorrect settings. It has taken me years to figure this one out. I finally got it to work. I was seeing the TG's showing up with strong signals as evidenced by the signal strength meter, but it was totally mute. When I went into Win500, I found the problem. The trunking system was set to "splintered" instead of "default." After I changed this in Win500 and reloaded the scanner, it worked well.

I don't know how to help you on the Win500 issue. Initially, when I attempted to download Win500 and make it work, I experienced similar problems. You can write them for help. They are pretty quick to respond and assist. Have you programmed the firmware updates for that radio?

I am assuming you've properly paired the scanner with the computer, USB connection. Tell me if you are able to activate the radio via remote. Do you see the scanner window on your computer?

When I looked at the KY State Police, I saw this information: KY State Police Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

From what I've seen in reviewing the KY radio systems, I don't see where the KY state police are operating on a trunking system unless it is part of a larger municipality. These might be linked to one another in a particular system.

Hopefully, someone will help us figure this out if we cannot do it.

Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-us; DROID BIONIC Build/5.5.1_84_DBN-74) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Just for jollies, try this.

1. Copy-paste the Win500 key from your e-mail into the Win500 program.

2. Test Win500 talking to the -600.

3. If that works, consider doing a total reset of the -600 per the manual. That should clear any settings that may be askew. Starting new with the RR db should work.

HTH.

I actually got the pro96 fully programmed scanner into my PSR600 using win500 software but never got it to go over to the RR.com. not sure what to do about that. at least i think i got accomplished what i was wanting to do.

Not questioning your copy-paste effort, but are you sure there are no leading or trailing blanks in the paste? And I assume you have the latest version of Win500?

Were you copy & pasting your Win500 key into the RadioReference login (for web import)?

The Win500 key is only used to activate the software. To do a web import from RadioReference, using Win500, or any other web-enabled software, such as PSREdit, you use your RadioReference username and password. I apologize if I misunderstood what you meant.

also i never did get radio reference.com to take the win500 register

As someone mentioned in a previous post, the Win500 registration key has NOTHING TO DO with RadioReference.

It is for activating your copy of the Win500 software on your computer after the free trial period has expired.

If you are trying to import data from Radio Reference when you are using the Win500 software at the "Web Import" screen, you need to enter your Radio Reference user name and password, NOT your Win500 registration key.

From the instructions at the top of the Win500 Web Import Screen:

"Please insure that your internet connection is active (i.e. you can browse the Web), enter your RadioReference.com username and password, and click the START button to begin.
