Hello all....first time post-er, long time scanner.

Well, I've been a scanning fan for many years...even back in the crystal set days. Most recently coming from a BC245 XLT which is having obvious problems scanning the new re-banded UCAN systems in Northern Utah.

After ~ a weeks worth of study (and some strong reccomendations of those in this group) I will soon be receiving a GRE PSR-500. Until it is delivered I have been reading the instruction manual and have dowloaded the trial version of WIN500. Right now I am suffering from sensory overload...holy cow have things changed in ~5-6 years.

Anyway, After a few attempts I now have what I feel is a very loose grasp of the software and have set up a Scheme for my scanner, so that when it arrives I could pretty much hit the ground running...that's the intent anyway.

I hope I am not violating any protocols here but I am curious to know if any of this illustrious group would mind giving it a look see, just to see if there are any obvious, blaintant errors. (I would email directly so as not to publish anything inappropriate.) I also have a small Excel sheet which outlines the intent of the scheme.

I am located in Ogden UT so that is my priomary focus. I also have set up scan lists for Davis and SL counties, Hill AFB and a couple of others.

Please let me know what you think and we'll go from there. Thanks in advance for you consideration.

Welcome to the Utah Forum of RR.com

I see you have done your homework and seem to know what we do here. So far you have not violated any protocols since we really don't have any other than what is stated in the Sticky at the top of his forum about posting unknown TGs.

Yes, you are very right. Things have definitely changed over the years, but something tells me that you are not going to have any problems with your set up as long as you have remembered to update the trunking tables. I would be happy to look at your file, as far as UCAN is concerned (if you would send a PM to me with your e-mail address), but I'm going to warn you, I don't do Hill AFB. Just never got into them. With that being said, you might want someone else to look at your file. I'm thinking, though, that you should probably wait until your PSR-500 (good choice, by the way) gets here, give it a test drive, then if you have a problem we can "attack" the specific problem. If you do it that way, we would like to know how it turned out.

Again, welcome, grab something to drink and have a seat. We're glad you're here.

Thanks for the help...

Special thanks to both qlajlu and N7YUO...my GRE PSR500 showed up today and after clearing the driveway, sidewalk and deck, set up my new scanner, uploaded an adjusted (thanks to both their recommendations) WIN500 file and was scanning within minutes. I thank you both for your suggestions and taking the time to help with my new set up.
