Just moved to Indiana from NJ and I'm re-doing my remaining scanners, a Pro197 & Pro106 . Couldn't get Indiana Safe-T working so, Tvenger graciously sent me a new zip file that worked like a charm on the 106, but it erased about 1,000 other items. I have not done the 197 yet to avoid the same thing. I now have 2 Win500 files, my old one (1,100 objects ) and the new one (168 objects) Tvenger sent. I haven't really used this program in about 10 years, so I can't figure out how to save some of my old Scan items and use the new program that was sent to me, or is this even possible? If not, I'll do a Premium Subscription from RR and start over.

Also, I have forgotten how to add both Wildcards to a system.....

For the Object Oriented scanners, manufactured originally by GRE (which is no longer around), and those manufactured by Whistler (which acquired GRE's intellectual property, i.e. patents and designs), you can only use 1 programming file at a time. (That includes these same scanner models sold via Radio Shack, including your Pro197 & Pro106.)

You can have additional files stored in the scanners' V-Folders, but only one file at a time can be used.

Using Win500, you can open both your old file (1100 objects), as well as the newer file (168 objects). With both files open in Win500, you can copy entries from one file, and paste them into the other file, combining what you want in one place. Similarly, if you renew your Premium Subscriber status, you can simply import anything additional you want to add from the database. Just remember that your scanner can only use one file at a time. Whenever you write a programming file to the scanner, it overwrites anything that was previously programmed.

In the age of digital radios, I would strongly recommend re-doing your program and/or checking to see if the talk groups are still consistent with those listed. I don't know if you are wanting to program this very large system. If so, you will need to match the TSYS locations to the matching talk groups in the area you are programming. However, you are limited to only 32 frequencies, even with using the control channels.

If you are programming the entire system, I strongly advise putting each area. You may want an entire scanner working memory, 1600 something objects, I would load other systems outside your listening area to a Virtual Folder. When I used my GRE PSR 500, I would put the entire state of Kansas in one virtual folder with a separate virtual folder for Oklahoma.

Thanks to both of you, I'm now up and running great. The Copy & Paste worked great though a lot of trial and error.
