Win500 recording blank audio files

I'm attempting to set up Win500 on a notebook computer. I have the audio input device set to the microphone input, I can hear the scanner over the computers speakers when I set the microphone input to listen, and Win500 is generating a WAV filed with each event being logged. However when I attempt to play back the WAV file I can't hear anything. Thoughts? Thanks.

My guess is audio levels-you might try 'tweaking' the mic input level in your sound settings. I can only suggest trial and error unless there is a sound level meter in Win500. Also check that Win500 is using the mic input and the audio is on the correct 'channel" (left vs right).
