I would like to receive 769.24375 and its input 799.24375 on a PSR-500 V1.6.

I'm using Win500 V02.06 for programming.

Win500 accepts 769.24375 as a CONV Object.

When I enter 799.24375 then leave the Frequency field, 796.996875 automatically replaces what I entered. Any ideas how I can get the frequency field to accept 799.24375?

This is the first time I attempted to enter 700 frequency pairs as CONV Objects.

I would like to program and listen to 700 MHz input frequencies to catch operations that are only occuring very local to me.

As far as I know, none of the GRE (or GRE made Radio Shack) models cover the full 700 MHz input range. GRE just seems to have trouble getting those frequencies right, for whatever reason.

Any Uniden model that has 700 MHz coverage will span the entire input range. Off the top of my head, the BCD396XT, BCD996XT and HomePatrol should have no trouble with them.

Or just look at the specs for each model, rather that starting multiple threads. The information is readily available. As I said, this is a known issue with GRE scanners, whether they say GRE or Radio Shack on the front. Uniden digital scanners work just fine in that range.

The issue is that the GRE-built scanners have horrible image issues from 796.997 to up over 799.x. They receive part of the 800 MHz band (around 866 IIRC) reflected into that chunk of Some GRE scanners used to accept the frequencies, but one of the more recent firmware updates removed access to that part of the band in software and the scanner itself.

If your scanner does not have the most recent firmware update, you could try entering the frequency manually (in the scanner as opposed to using Win500). No guarantees it'll work, though.

It's not clear why this issue exists for GRE (and not Uniden) and why the solution is to mask that part of the band rather than fix the issue. My guess is it's something in the hardware design that causes this issue - but even in the newest model I have (a PSR-800), it's still just masked out.
