Win96/97 software+iMac+Parallels

For those of you Mac users, is anyone successfully using Starrsoft Win96 and Win97software and USB/serial adaptor, running through Parallels or BootCamp?

I have a new iMac and want to dump my crummy Compaq laptop completely! I only use it for programming my Pro 96 and Pro 97 scanners.

Is your new Mac Intel-based? If so, booting into "Windows" should work (it has for some others). If not (i.e. your Mac is a PowerPC), it almost certainly won't work.

My newest Mac is an Intel based iMac. I know it will run Windoze, I'm just wondering if the setup using Parallels will work with the USB serial adaptor and Win96/97.

Is anyone doing this? I REALLY want to get rid of this old Compaq piece that's taking up desk space! The Win96/97 is the only reason I still have it around.
