Does it work, or does the program ask for your key? I upgraded my registered copy of WIN96 (registered in 2003) three weeks ago and the program requested my key. I entered it and it will not take it. I have e-mailed Don twice and still have not got a response. I am not the only person who has had a problem with this. It accepted the 180-day temporary key but I still get prompted for the key on program start which didn't happen before.

I've had the program since day one and have not seen this issue when upgrading, including the latest 1.58.

Yea, it's strange. I've had the program on the same computer since purchase in December 2003. I've updated the program in the past with no problems. The program will accept the 180-day temp key but I still get the nag screen on start-up. I just shot Don a third e-mail asking for assistance.

Ah... December 2003...

It sounds like you have one of the original (Sept 2003 - Feb 2004) hardware-based keys that depended upon a "registration number". If that's accurate, you (along with all Win96 registrants at that time) were invited on 01 Mar 2004 via an email to request a new key that would work with Win96 version 1.29 and later. Nearly all invitees took advantage of that offer in a timely manner, but it appears that some did not.

Unfortunately, I don't keep records of individual registrations from 2 months ago, much less 5 years ago.

I received five messages that day, nothing from Don Starr or Starsoft mentioning anything about updating a key for a program that I had purchased only a few months before. Thanks for the reply at least Don.
