I had the Win96 program and my computer got a virus. I ended up
deleting everything from my computer including Win96. so I got a new computer and I was wandering if there is Is there anyway
that I can re-register with Win96 or do I have to purchase it again. I
am currently looking for the Key but I might not be able to find it however I can provide any other needed info. I have E-Mailed Don Starr several times and it has not been responded to.

Thanks

I am guessing that you didn't keep a hard copy of the email he sent with the registration to begin with?

I did almost the same thing.... but ended up without a lot of stuff that was on my hard drive.... following another person's suggestion I saved a copy of Win 96 on a disk so i could, at worst, copy the program to the hard drive if something happened.... the key would have been entered on the copy on the disk. Along with the copy on the disk I also saved the email with the key.... have used it once but it saved me a lot of trouble.

This sort of thing is what makes multiple hard drives and partitions a nice thing to have. I can reformat and not loose a thing :D

I have also stored my key online in a couple off different password protected webspaces that I have...that way I can pull up the info no matter what computer I am at...just type in the URL, enter my password, and go! :D

I know what you mean about not getting a response to emails, I sent 3 so far since 4-23-05 and still have not received a reissue of my product key. My hard drive completely died so I ended up just buying a new computer due to the age of the old one. I keep copies of all my scanner related papers in a 3-ring notebook but for some reason my email with the product key was not in there. Yes, it is my fault that I did not keep better records, but it's also a shame to have a program on my computer that can't be used just because I can't get customer support.

Todd,
This sounds so much out of character for Don that I suspect for some reason or another, your emails are not getting to him. Might I suggest (if he doesn't stumble over this thread) that you PM here at the site with your problem. His ID on RR is DonS.

Once I send an E-mail to Don then it will not be spamed out by my computer, But I even made sure and checked my spam folder and he was not in there. When I got Win96 I imediatly put it on a disk so I wouldent lose it.

Thanks for the help.

loumaag,

You are right about it being out of character for Don not to respond to my emails. I have read numerous posts here on RR in which Don has bent over backwards to help with any issue someone is having with his programs. I even remember one in which this person was selling their Pro-96 and was wondering if it was legal to give the new owner a copy of Win96 along with the program key. Don's response was that he had no problem with it but he wanted them to contact him when the sale was final because he would provide the new owner with his own unique key. There's not too many software companies that would agree to do that! As for the email messages, I tried sending them to 2 different email addresses that were both linked directly from his Win96 web page. Thank you for the suggestion that I try to send a PM to him here on RR. I will give that a try.

Dubbin,

Although I can't completely rule out the possibility that my ISP is filtering out any reply emails as spam, I doubt that this is the case here. My mail settings have always been set to receive all email and anything that my ISP feels might be spam is sent to a separate folder for me to review so that I can make the choice to delete it or not. I do review this folder at least every other day.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions,
Todd

I had some problems with manual key generation. I was able to resolve them this morning, and the 27 (!) pending "replacement key" requests have been completed (Todd's included).

Sorry about the delay.

Don,

Thank you for sending the replacement key! My apologies again for making the request in the first place. I have always been real good about keeping records of everything and I can't figure out why I never had a copy of your email in my scanner notebook. I have made 2 copies of the replacement key email, one for my scanner notebook and the other has gone into my software folder. I do enjoy using your programs and appreciate the customer support you give to all of us here on RR. Keep up the good work!!!

Todd
