Hello everyone, I am having one heck of a time trying to get my Win96 program to run. I purchased it several years ago and they gave me a 30 day key number so it will work then a regular keygen later on. Well neither keygen will work now. I used the same signin and keygen that was sent to me and I am about ready to sling it all out the window. I emailed the company a week or so ago asking if they knew what could be causing this and no reply.
Can anyone help me please?
Thank you.

You would be helping us help YOU if you would tell us what kind of error message your getting ?
ie When you run WIN96.exe are you getting the message that your 30-day trail period is over
and you must pruchase the program or enter a valid key ? Also did this program work fine past
the 30 day period with your key and then just magically stopped working one day for no reason ?

In other words "what changed" ... ie did you reload your PC or get a new PC ?
Do you know the deal about the sometimes after down loading and using older versions of unzip utils
for unziping WIN96.zip, a particular DLL file name MAY? get truncated into the 8.3 file format and if so
the easy fix is to simply rename your incorrectly shortened DLL file to "WinXXxommon.dll" and presto !

Also, on Don Starr's website he posts some temporary license keys to bail you out until he can respond:

Win96: Name: Temporary 180 key
Key: 0643-1FA6-09F8-6B27

OK, hope this helps you ..... that would be .... ah, wait for it ..... that would be GREat :))

Hi Michael, if I can remember right many years ago when I purchased Win96 I got the key with it when I paid the 30 dollars to Don then I changed computers and it wouldn't work. S I emailed Don and he gave me a temp key and it worked again for years. Now I am on another new computer and neither one of the keys I have will get it to run now.
Everytime I type it in its says The name/key you entered does not appear to be valid. Please try again.
Also I cant remember if I have to type in my email addy at the top line.
I also cant find anything on Dons site but the page that says you have to buy it and something near the bottom I can click on something and it takes me to the pay page.

Calvin, I just lQQked at my stored license key and here is the correct format.
Of course I have doctored it as to not share and thus break any license agreement.

Name: John Doe johndoe@yahoo.com 1234 YourStreet Dr 78232
Key:1234-E2E6-61D5-5678

ps ~ Always telling us RR folks more details always helps ...
ie ~ Help I switched computers and I forgot how to enter my key syntax , etc.
btw ~ Did you try the temp key I posted on my previous post ~ por favor ?

Michael

Michael your not going to believe this my friend but I set here the other night and kept entering the second key that was sent to me and now its working. Crazy software hahahaa only problem though I tried to download all the freqs I already had programmed into my 2096 so that the software would keep it in memory and I don't know what happened but I lost every single freq I had. That ready upset me now I have nothing and cant remember but just a few of the local ones we have in WV. I tried the upload and download in the software and everything seems to be working just like it did a few years ago but now I have no freqs to scan.
I went to the WV site on here and got a few freqs and they work but I sure lost a whole lot of all that I liked before.
I appreciate you sending me the key or yours Michael that was really nice of you to do that and I saved it also if you know where I can get my local freqs back please let me know buddy.
Thanks again my friend,
Calvin N8CWR
