I am new here and have been out of scanning for a while (How many posts start like that?). I just picked up a used Pro-97 and it seems to be a decent radio. I picked up a programming cable (RS #20-047) and downloaded Win97. The download went OK and I can open the application. However, I can not open the open the help file. I get the screen that says "Navigation to webpage was cancelled."
So, I followed the directions on the Starrsoft website. Right clicked on the the help file...properties...general tab...Unblock button....'OK'.
Still nothing.
The computer doesn't seem to recognize the scanner but that's another issue. I'd like to try to figure that out on my own but I'd really like to be able to read that help file.
Any suggestions?
Chris

Did you see this on the download page? Whether this works in Win7, I dunno...

"If you have difficulties using the Help file (i.e. if you get an error message when you press F1 within Win97), you may need to update or install Microsoft's HTML Help Viewer program. Download this ZIP file, unzip it, then run the enclosed HHUPD.EXE file. This will install the Help Viewer program."

Thanks for the help, Tom. I forgot to mention that I tried that fix already. When I run the file I get a message informing me I already have a newer version of HTML Help.

Sounds like the help file needs to recompiled, then. Or search the freeware sites, maybe SourceForge, to see if someone had addressed the file format conversion problem. HTH,

Re-compiling HTML Help? It's beginning to sound a little beyond my grasp but...I'll look into it.
Thanks again.

Actually I was being sarcastic and that didn't work very well. I think the recompiling would have to be done by the software author using his original source material. Sorry for the confusion.
