Winchester PD now transmitting in encryption full time.
Earlier this month I noticed increasing amounts of encrypted traffic on ch. 2.
(Prior to this month ch. 2 was only used for about 10-20% of it's radio traffic.)
By last Wednesday (17th), I was no hearing any transmission on talkgroup 1 (previously the dispatch channel).
However I was hearing the frequent encrypted traffic (partially muted) on my scanner on talkgroup 2.
I have an older P25 Phrase 1 scanner that is dedicated for the Winchester system. Other departments still are using the system & I can listen to them without problem.
The Winchester system is TDMA capable, so I checked with a newer scanner, and found no Phrase 2 talkgroups. Also heard the encryption noise from WPD on ch. 2.
I had been listening to WPD since I started with the hobby back in 1980.
