There is an 800mhz motorola system operating in the winchester area, so far I have detected three control channels: 857.8375, 858.8375, and 859.8375. so far I have heard taxis, towing, construction, adelphia cable techs, and some misc. Winchester police and fire and rescue operate on conventional radios. I have been able to listen to this system well into west virginia. If anyone knows if this is just a local system or part of a larger one please let me know, talkgoup ids welcome as well.

HABX Properties is licensed for those frequencies in Winchester. The callsign is WPUL492.

I searched the FCC records on their website and came up with a Callsign of WPUL492 that includes those frequencies that is licensed to something called HABX Properties LLC. It listed an address in Winchester and a tower site on Big North Mountain. Sorry, Im not familar with that location, my only experince with Winchester is passing through on I-81.

The FCC website is real useful in finding frequencies.

According to my atlas, there is Great North Mountain south of Gore near Camp Rock Enon (the Boy Scout camp). For those not familiar, that in the eastern most mountains of Frederick County about 8 miles west of town. This also would explain it being heard well into West Virginia.

When I was programming a bank last week, I thought I came upon the Alexandria TRS (strong control channel). After programming and listening for a day, the only thing I heard was a Winchester taxi service.

Looks like I need to get those control channels & see what I can find. I did not think the city/county had any public services on a TRS. (I know Warren has its Sheriff & Police departments on a LTR TRS. And I found out that a _whole bunch_ of non public users are on that system too.)

Hey Steve, yeah your right about Warren being trunked, don't be surprised if in the very near future Winchester Police start using other methods of radio transmissions other than the conventional system they are using right now. I used to live in Winchester and am familiar with their radio systems.

Yea Sendyouhelp. Winchester & Frederick County are talking about merging the Fire Departments within the next year. When that happens, I really think that's when a merged TRS may happen. Thats a main reason I got the digital/ trunktracker.

Also, I submitted a few talkgroups for the system in this thread. I have yet to hear Adelphia or the local fire/police on the system. But I have had it progammed only 24 hours. Also a few TG IDs with too little information to include, yet: 1552, 1680, and 80.

I see that this system has been posted in the database, I will also try to get more tgids and enter them. It should be noted that this system is usually more active during business hours 8am - 5pm. I was in neighboring Front Royal a few days ago and was getting five bars from the control channel as I drove through town, so this system has an expanded range.
