Window mount help for FireStik antenna

I have a real dilemna here folks. I am not much of an engineer when it comes to making a custom mount for my FireStik antenna (http://www.firestik.com/Catalog/MSB-RX.htm)

My situation is, I live in an apartment, so I can't permanently mount this to the side of the apartment (which was my original plan). So, next I tried to come up with a way to safely clamp the antenna, mounted to a 1 foot piece of 2x4, to the inside of the window sill, but the sill is a mish-mosh of metal slots for the storm windows/screens, and doesn't make for a real secure clamping base. I also cannot find the right kind of clamp to get this antenna secured to the sill. I am at my wits end.

So my question is, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions, as to how to get this antenna mounted? It weighs about 3.5 pounds, so it will require a strong mounting system. I would appreciate any ideas at all (feel free to experiment).

Many years ago when faced with the same problem I used fishing line to literally hang the antenna from the section nearest the outside--I had to change the window screen from the metal mesh to a fiberglass mesh (did all three windows, changed to a much darker color to better conceal the antenna)... used an old luggage rack antenna mount from Rat Shack at the bottom to attach the lead, tied it off with fishing line making the bottom attachment triangular so it wouldn't sway in the breeze.... and provide some weight to keep it hanging..... worked pretty well and the apartment manager never complained about my ears again....

something sturdier

Wow! That's quite the rig. But, I am kind of looking for something a bit less cumbersome. In all reality I think all I need is a nifty clamp that would hook/bite into the sill piece. Here's a pic:

Take a "C" clamp. Drill 4 holes in it to mount a horizontal plate. Mount a standard antenna mount on the plate. Clamp the clamp to the bottom sill.

Or you could just mount the antenna mount to the clamp and clamp it to the bottom of the vertical part of the frame.

Antenna mount

Actually the antenna came with an L-shaped vertical mount. which i have bolted to a onr foot piece of 2x4. I will try using two C-clamps, rotate the mount 90 degrees, to clamp the 2x4 horizontally to the bottom of the window sill.
