Anyone have any recommendations? Im not looking for through glass, but for one that fits on top of the window. Do they make these for NMO? Ive tried searching but come up empty handed.

Thanks

That is what im looking for but 6ft of coax isnt very sufficient. The longest Ive seen is I think 9ft.

I saw someone post something about the Larsen 2-70 (i think) on the window mount. Cant find it, ill try again.

Thanks for the help

here it is, http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamantm/3171.html

Im fairly new to this so dont get to irratated. It is fitted for a 1/2 inch wave antenna. What exactly is this, is it good for scanning?

Does anyone happen to have this one: http://www.sti-co.com/windowclip.asp

Just wondering how it was on 800 MHz and some high VHF.

Thanks

No, that's a 1/2 Wave antenna. A 1/2 wave VHF-highband antenna is going to be roughly 36-38 inches tall. I'm thinking that it will accept the extra couple of inches as long as the wind load on the antenna isn't too high. Anything higher in frequency shouldn't be a problem. The reason for the 1/2 wave specification is given in the specs:
A 1/4 wave must be grounded to work well. The WS-1M will hold a 1/2 wave antenna, which is independent of the ground plane.

The antenna in your second link is a 1/4 wave antenna. As noted in the Comet link, a 1/4 wave antenna requires a groundplane for best performance. However, just getting the antenna outside the vehicle will do wonders for reception. It just depends on your needs and circumstances.

Dont ask me why I put inch in there. I was looking up the last link I posted, the STI-CO window clip. I found one site that is selling it and it is runnin $80. That is a little more than what I wanted to spend, it is exactly what im looking for though.

Now that I quit dipping I guess ill just throw the $5 a day I spent and save up for the antenna.
